3D Model Collections
Blender & Bambu Studio | 2026
Ever since our amazing GeoGraphics Lab director Alicia Iverson got us a 3D printer, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with making and printing all sorts of models. I would like to show you some printed models I made in blender.

Alps - An Annotated Travel Map
ArcGIS & Blender & Adobe Illustrator | 2026 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
This map features all major travel attractions and destinations around Alps. The place names are spelled in the local languages. The background hillshade is rendered through Blender to mimic a natural vibe.
Central Jinan Architecture & Tourism Map(济南市区建筑旅游图)
ArcGIS & Adobe Illustrator | 2026 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
This map features communities, buildings, springs, and other attrictions honoring the history of those places to shape the urban landscape in central Jinan. I adopted traditional Chinese Heavenly Stems
 ordinals(甲乙丙丁...) as index locators.

Cusco y alrededores
ArcGIS & Blender & Adobe Illustrator | 2025 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
A simple map of Cusco and surrounding areas, with an oblique perspective to emphasize the complicated arid and rough terrains of the area.
A Map of London
ArcGIS & Adobe Illustrator | 2025 | Presented in Big Ten GIS Conference
The undergrounds are presented high in the visual hierarchy to visualize how expansive the public transportation network is.
College of Earth and Mineral Sciences
Adobe Illustrator | 2024 | Presented in Penn State GIS Days
Suitable for a themal printer to print on swell papers.
City of A Thousand Springs  (千泉之城)
A Database and Dashboard of Natural Springs in Jinan, China
ArcGIS Online & Adobe Illustrator for poster | 2025 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
The database collects information on about one thousand springs within municipal boundaries of Jinan, and then I visualized them on a map. The locations of springs within the old city of Jinan are accurate within 5 meters, while those in the suburban areas are only precise to the village level, sometimes with errors of up to several hundred meters. Due to the limited data, if you have any information related to the springs, please click the contact section above and submit the questionnaire to help us improve the spring data of Jinan.
Chinese Cities in Yangtze Delta (Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing)
ArcGIS & Adobe Illustrator & Dall-E | 2025
I uses GPT & Dall-E to generate small snapshots of buildings on the side panels.
Dynastic Masonry - Visualizing the Great Wall of China (中国长城可视化)
ArcGIS Pro & Adobe Illustrator & Blender & Procreate | 2025 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
I used many software to make this map - ArcGIS to generate the background reference information, Adobe Illustrator for major designs, Blender for terrain rendering, and Procreate to draw artistic style of the Great Wall.  This map presents Great Walls of China across different areas and ages. I intentially adopted a oblique perspective from Mongolia to visualize how this defense network is seen from the perspectives from north to south - challenging the traditional top-down perspectives. The forts and mountain passes are labeled in both English and Chinese, with the Chinese labels placed in a traditional top-down topography.
The Global Highspeed Transit Network
Adobe Illustrator | 2025 | Posted in Reddit
This is a fantasy map that features an imagined high speed network around the world. This map is highly schematic and features many interesting ideas, such as the Orbital Rail on the high sky above equator, and also the Earth Departure Station.
Penn State OGE 25th Anniversary Alumni Map
Procreate & Adobe Illustrator | 2025 | Presented in NACIS gallery & Esri UC
Collaborated with Julia Byrnes under the supervision of Alicia Iverson
A Work for the GeoGraphics Lab

This map features locations of Penn State Online Geospatial Education alumni, classified through degrees and certificates offered. To emphasize the fact that majority of our students are from the United States, we attached an inset map to feature the point data. This map offers exquisite bivariate designs based on the sizes and colors of data points, and a beautiful Watermann Butterfly Projection. This map is a perfect example of integrating elements through various map production platforms, including ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate. Since this map was made, many students in the GeoGraphics Lab have started experimenting with mapmaking in Procreate and bringing such elements into traditional mapmaking workflow.

Earth Transit - Major Trains, Buses, and Ferries in the World
Adobe Illustrator | 2022-2023 | Posted on Reddit
This map shows all the major passenger train networks around the world, with ferries and buses in case if there is no train transport. View detail version image here. Please remember that this project took me 9 months to finish, so there must be errors and outdated information (especially in Europe).
Map of State College - Dark Version
ArcGIS Pro & Adobe Illustrator | 2024 | Printed inside the Walker Building, Penn State
I have both the light version and the night version of State College map. The night version featured on this portfolio is characterized by the subtle outer glows from the roads and buildings.

Three Maps below features other projects that have made in 2026 for various activities

These pages are intended as a draft chapter of a World Travel Atlas in my mind. Hopefully someday I can finish all of these.
Travel Map of the World
ArcGIS Pro & Adobe Illustrator | 2022 | Presented in NACIS Gallery
Don’t ask me why I use Mercator, sometimes I just like the angular preciseness - you can see I still have a lot of maps in other projections though.
A Map of Eurasia and Africa in the Year of 650
Paint.NET | 2019
A project that I am really proud of, before I learned GIS and prevlanet GIS mapping.
