I believe map stores are not merely just a place where people can buy maps, but to establish connections with a variety of different cartographic languages and conventions to visualize our known space. Commissioned Project from Lucero Mora Muñoz, Medardo Tapia Román at Centro Ecológico Zanja Arajuno, collaborated with Dr. Belén Noroña. We tried to incorporate Amazonian more-than-human ontology into this storymap to publicize their efforts to rescue animals from the wild.
A Database and Dashboard of Natural Springs in Jinan, China

The database collects information on about one thousand springs within municipal boundaries of Jinan, and then I visualized them on a map. The locations of springs within the old city of Jinan are accurate within 5 meters, while those in the suburban areas are only precise to the village level, sometimes with errors of up to several hundred meters. This map inspires my master’s thesis research on Sakhalin Island. It illustrate the plural forms of placemaking in Sakhalin in history, as a contested territory between China, Japan, and Russia.
